Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut.
Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。游侠杜孟飞（何家劲）奉师命下山闯荡江湖，途遇黑道中人捉拿沐龙门女弟子沐婉儿（关之琳），杜挺身相救，沐万分感激。未几，杜又见黑道中人围攻少女李赛男（惠英红），乃将之救出，孰料李反斥杜坏其好事，令杜啼笑皆非。及后，杜无意中听得一段二十年前的江湖恩怨，并得知黑道首领乃李之杀父仇人，而沐则是黑道首领失散了的女儿。
